Looking for
or found missing docks, rafts etc?
The water on the Shadow Lakes this
spring was extremely high. You may have
lost some dock sections, rafts, boats,
etc because of it. Or you may have had
some item(s) wash up on or near your property.
If
you have had either, go to our Bulletin
Board
page where you can submit an entry to help try
and find
your missing items or to tell someone
you have found something.

Thieves Are At Work On Our Shadow Lakes!
There have been a number of reports of
stolen items on the Shadow Lakes this
season. Paul Bassett reports that his
daughter's Bayliner cruiser had all of
its gasoline stolen. They figure it was
pumped out rather than siphoned since
the tank was under the boat deck.
Geoff Wilson had
his 25HP Mercury outboard stolen from
his boat in early June.
Don Brownrigg had
the newly refurbished prop on their
outboard motor replaced with an rusty
old, damaged one.
Wally Herder had
his 9.9HP Evinrude motor stolen around
June 15.
If you see
something suspicious or out of place
occurring near your property, call the
OPP at 911, or the neighbour if you know
their phone number. Or try to get a
vehicle license plate or boat
registration number, and a description
of the persons involved. A photo or
video would also help.
For missing or
stolen items, it is also advisable to
put up a card on the Coby IGA bulletin
board or the Coby and Norland Library
notice boards.

Concern Over The Fluctuating Water
Levels
Our association is in the process of
writing a letter to the Trent-Severn
Waterway (TSW) folks to make them aware
that we are not happy about the drastic
water fluctuations within our system. According
to the Acres Report a few years ago, we
should expect a minimum flow rate
through our lakes, from the Norland dam
to the Coboconk dam. This does not
appear to be happening. As well, the City of
Kawartha Lakes (CoKL) is contacting the
TSW to express their concerns.
Dave Warren, a
Director with the Shadow Lakes
Association Inc, has written an
explanation as to why the levels have
fluctuated so much, and how you might be
able to predict short-term high or low
waters. Access the Water Levels
page from the main page on this website
for the information.
